ARMIN KANE, SOLY CISSÉ, SEYNI AWA CAMARA – ART PARIS 2026

À l’occasion de la 28e édition d’Art Paris au Grand Palais, la galerie présentera les œuvres de trois artistes majeurs originaires du Sénégal : Seyni Awa Camara, Armin Kane et Soly Cissé

La collection Robert Littman & Sully Bonelli sera particulièrement à l’honneur, avec la présentation d’une œuvre emblématique de Seyni Awa Camara, parmi l’important ensemble de sculptures exposées

S’appuyant sur leurs racines culturelles et sur la force des liens générationnels, Soly Cissé et Armin Kane, nourris à la fois de leur héritage iconographique et des codes de l’art européen, ouvrent au présent des filiations déterminantes qui répondent à l’esprit de notre temps
.

Les œuvres de Cissé renvoient à un univers totémique peuplé de mythes secrets, où humains et non-humains sont reliés par d’invisibles interdépendances, dans un lien inextricable avec la Nature. À travers son concept de « l’Être en chiffre », Armin Kane développe une poétique de la fragmentation et de la recomposition : un patchwork « codé » de l’identité, fait de rapiéçages assumés qui revendiquent visibilité et humanité face aux formes d’invisibilisation
.

Dans cet horizon primordial, Seyni Awa Camara activait, jusqu’à sa récente disparition en janvier dernier, le vaste fonds de croyances chamaniques de sa Casamance natale à travers ses Maternités d’argile, véritables icônes de guérison mystique face à l’infertilité dans un contexte social polygame et patriarcal

On the occasion of the 28th edition of Art Paris at the Grand Palais, the gallery will present works by three major artists from Senegal: Seyni Awa Camara, Armin Kane, and Soly Cissé. The Robert Littman & Sully Bonelli Collection will be especially highlighted through the presentation of an emblematic work by Seyni Awa Camara, shown alongside a significant group of her sculptures.

Rooted in their cultural backgrounds and shaped by the strength generational ties, Soly Cissé and Armin Kane draw on both their iconographic heritage and the codes of European art, opening to the present, determinant filiations that respond to the spirit of our time.

Cissé’s work refer to a totemic universe inhabited by secret mythologies, where humans and non-humans are bound by invisible interdependencies in an an inextricable link with Nature. Through his concept of “Being in Numbers,” Armin Kane develops a poetics of fragmentation and recomposition: a coded patchwork of identity made of assumed mending and repair become affirmations of visibility and humanity in the face of erasure.

Within this shared h and primordial orizon, Seyni Awa Camara, until her recent passing last January, drew from the cvast fund of shamanic beliefs from her native Casamance. Her clay Maternities stand as powerful ritual figures—icons of mystical healing addressing infertility within a social context shaped by polygamy and patriarchal structures.
