Victor Olaoyé is a Nigerian artist (born 2000, Ogun, Nigeria) known for his work exploring Yoruba cultural identity, particularly through the use of Adire textile techniques, local dyes as indigo and acrylics. His art often reflects on relationships, identity, and the socio-cultural significance of clothing, using figures dressed in floral motifs to question the politics of identity and human connection to culture.

Victor Olaoye (né en 2000 à Abeokuta, au Nigeria) est actuellement étudiant en maîtrise de peinture et de dessin à la School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Il a obtenu sa licence en beaux-arts à l’université Obafemi Awolowo, à Ace Ondo. Victor travaille principalement la peinture. Sa pratique explore les thèmes de la connexion à la nature, de la temporalité, de la reconquête de la nature et du cadre anthropologique. Les œuvres de Victor se situent à la croisée de la nature, de l’abstraction et de la figuration, chevauchant l’expérience intermédiaire du corps dans la nature

Victor Olaoye (b.2000, Abeokuta Nigeria) currently a Painting and drawing MFA student at the School of the Art institute Chicago, received his works BFA from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ace Ondo. Victor primarily in painting and fibre his practice examines the themes of Nature connectedness, temporality, nature reclamation and anthropological framework.
